Zenefits returned its focus to what made it a star in its early days—an intuitive, integrative, cloud-based HR software that makes benefits administration and employee management easy (and affordable—its basic offering is free) for small- to mid-sized businesses. Zenefits makes money through its premium monthly subscriptions, a robust offering of add-ons (which can add up) as well as fees businesses pay to use them as a benefits broker. Their free offering is strong (especially for benefits administration), but Zenefits Z2 has created a scalable, a la carte solution for a range of business needs.

  • Access your account from anywhere with a mobile app for both iOS and Android
  • Benefits administration:Robust offering of a full range of benefits, including the option to buy a plan directly from a Zenefits broker/provider
  • All-in-one-HR: Covers the full range of HR concerns: hiring, onboarding, time-tracking, compliance, payroll services, etc.
  • Access to HR experts: Some plans offer support from a certified HR specialist
  • Seamless integration: Integrates easily with a variety of third-party tools
  • Flexibility with different types of employees: Ideal for small businesses with full-time, part-time and hourly workers; includes an app for streamlining the hiring of independent contractors
  • A free option that gives small businesses access to HR software services typically reserved for big businesses
  • A la carte add-ons: Expand your offerings to include a variety of add-on apps, including productivity, expense reporting, recruiting and employee engagement
